Surferiffic coming-of-age tale Rip Tide, starring Disney’s Debby Ryan (Jessie), will take its maiden voyage at the Sydney Film Festival next month.
Shot in New South Wales late last year, the film sees Ryan as 18 year old fashion model Cora, who decamps to live with her aunt in an Australian coastal town after some manner of “fashion faux pas”. Soon she is drawn into the community and the local surf scene, and must choose between the old life that spurned her and the new one that welcomes her with open arms. Rhiannon Bannenberg (Ambrosia) directs from a script by the rather wonderfully named Georgia Harrison (The_27_Club), whose parents no doubt have a great record collection.
Rip Tide makes its world premiere at Event Cinemas George St on Saturday, June 10. For info and tickets, hit up the Sydney Film Festival site.
