Verdict is a distribution company founded by Charles ‘Bud’ Tingwell AM, with the Chopper Read vehicle “Pinball” set to commence filming in Geelong later in 2022. Under the guidance of President, Cameron James Miller, the company plans to foster new talent and bring production to Geelong with a plan to build a film studio in the future.
Cameron James Miller brings a wealth of experience in the film industry including being mentored by Bud Tingwell AM along with a 25-year friendship and mentorship by industry icon Alan Finney OAM. Verdict was reimagined and relaunched in 2019 with a newly formed team and now calls Geelong home. The company plans to reinvigorate the film industry with meaningful stories that support a cause close to home for Miller.
The distribution company will donate 70% of the yearly proceeds to building houses for families with children with childhood Congenital Heart Disease (CHD). Cameron James Miller lost his son Shaun at age 17 to CHD 10 years ago and went on to launch the Shaun Miller Foundation in honour of his son. Through verdict he hopes to continue supporting families just like his own.
“Seventy per cent of the distribution profits will go back to the Shaun Miller Foundation to build cardiac care homes for parents and families who have lost children to CHD,” Cameron James Miller, President, Verdict Film Group said. “The homes will operate as a retreat for families with CHD children going through surgeries and treatments as well as families who have suffered a loss being supported with grief therapy”.
The Verdict team brings a plethora of industry clout to the table including Alan Finney OAM who acts as Vice President. He is known for roles as Managing Director of Village Roadshow, Vice President of Walt Disney Buena Vista and is Chairman of the Board of The Shaun Miller Foundation. He released over 500 successful motion pictures including Mad Max, Romper Stomper and Pirates of the Caribbean. Filling out the team are Antony I Ginnane (High Tide, The Light Horsemen, Never Too Late), Scott Goldman in the USA (My Sister’s Keeper), Michael Katchman (Platoon, Caddyshack, Dances with Wolves) and Ian McFadyen (The Comedy Company).
Pinball, a new Australian feature film with never-before-seen footage of infamous gangster Mark “Chopper” Read will be the first vehicle for the company. Written and directed by Matt Holcomb and featuring John Jarratt (Wolf Creek), the project will be filmed in Geelong and belatedly grants Read his dying wish, to play a gangster on the big screen.
Verdict offers high expertise services for Australian and international film industries and will launch this coming Monday 30th May in Geelong.
