At the Greek Film Festival in Melbourne
On Monday, 19 October 2026, the documentary “Tell Me”, directed by Nikos Megrelis and written by Renée Revah and Nikos Megrelis, will be screened in Melbourne as part of the Greek Film Festival 2026.
The documentary approaches the memory of the Holocaust through a deeply personal family story, exploring loss, silence, intergenerational trauma, and the need to search for and reconnect with the past.
The film follows photographer Renée Revah as she traces the story of her family, Greek Jews from Thessaloniki who were deported to Auschwitz during World War II and never returned.
Following their journey from Thessaloniki to Auschwitz and Birkenau, Revah attempts to draw closer to a past that remained shrouded in silence for many years. Through an imagined dialogue with her grandfather — the sole survivor of his family — she confronts the trauma passed down from one generation to the next and searches for a path towards understanding and healing.
“Tell Me” is not only a film about the memory of the Holocaust. It is a film about what we inherit without even knowing it, about the silences that are passed down through families, and about the possibility of transforming memory from a burden into connection and, ultimately, into light.
As former German Federal Minister of State for Culture and the Media Claudia Roth said at the screening of the documentary at the German Bundestag:
“‘Tell Me’ invites us to make this connection between past and present. Remembering what happened in Auschwitz is not only about commemorating the victims; it is also about understanding what is at stake when democratic values, human dignity, freedom and the right to life are under attack.”
The participation of “Tell Me” in the Greek Film Festival in Melbourne brings this deeply personal Greek story to Australia and to an international audience, opening a dialogue about memory, identity, and the lasting impact of history on future generations.
