Radioactive Pictures’ latest Australian film, the heartfelt and family drama, Ancestry Road is being shown in select cinemas around the country from June 5th, with digital release scheduled for June 12th. This anticipated digital release will be through Apple TV, Google Play, Prime Video and Vimeo On Demand.
Directed and written by award-winning Australian film-maker Glenn Triggs, Ancestry Road is about second chances, processing loss, the importance of family, and making the most of the time you have.
The story follows a Scottish farmer, whose daughter continually goes missing in the back fields of their property. He builds a road to make life easier for his family, but everything changes when deceased family members begin arriving in their cars for a visit.
Shot in in the stunning wilds of Tasmania, and featuring a great Scottish cast, Ancestry Road is poignant and beautifully filmed.
Writer and Director Glenn Triggs said the film was an emotional journey for him.
“When my Mum passed away, all of these raw emotions naturally found their way into a script. I wrote about 50 pages in a day (which never happens) and felt it was very much a story worth telling. I then spent the following year perfecting this script. Ancestry Road is set in Scotland and was filmed entirely in a small town in the middle of Tasmania. We shot the whole thing in 17 days and managed to pull it off and create something very heartfelt, cinematic and honest. I am really excited to see it released across Australia and New Zealand, both in cinemas and digitally.”
Jessica Butland, Managing Director of Radioactive Pictures, said the team at Radioactive Pictures were very excited to be releasing another enthralling Australian made film. Radioactive Pictures is thrilled to bring Ancestry Road to audiences in Australia and New Zealand.
“It’s a film that stays with you — poignant, moving, and full of heart. The Tasmanian scenery is also spectacular, the perfect setting for this tale of family life in a small town. Glenn’s storytelling taps into something deeply human, and we know audiences will connect with it in a profound way.”
