Renowned filmmaker Peter Renzullo is set to embark on a thrilling new chapter in his career with the announcement of his latest feature film, The Jewel Wasp. Known for his unique approach to cinematography, editing, composing, and screenwriting, Renzullo is now focusing on his own highly anticipated project after years of success in the film industry.

The Jewel Wasp marks Renzullo’s third feature film in production and his seventh script. Following the success of his first feature film Anticipation, which won 17 awards and propelled his career, Renzullo has continued to push boundaries in filmmaking, working as the Director of Photography, editor, and composer on multiple projects. His impressive body of work includes The Decadent & Depraved, Radio Man, The Canary, Before Dawn, and the upcoming Unapologetic, which is set to be released later this year.

For Renzullo, filmmaking has always been a passion and a form of self-education. Having begun his journey in 2017 with zero prior experience, he used the making of Anticipation as an opportunity to learn the complexities of production and post-production, teaching himself the intricacies of each department. Despite facing the challenges of being legally blind, with only 3% vision remaining due to a rare condition called Cone Dystrophy, Renzullo has continued to succeed in an industry where visual precision is key. His ability to adapt, relying on innovative techniques such as focus peaking and low-light shooting, has made him a pioneering force in the world of cinema.

In 2025, Peter Renzullo will take a break from client work to focus on his own feature, The Jewel Wasp.

The Jewel Wasp promises to be a gripping psychological thriller, with a compelling story about an underground agency called EMERALD. This organisation is dedicated to capturing perpetrators of horrific crimes before they are caught by law enforcement, bringing them face-to-face with the families of their victims. The film delves deep into the human psyche, exploring the intense emotions tied to revenge, morality, and justice, set against a backdrop of harrowing subject matter and an exceptional cast.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the complexity of the human mind, and The Jewel Wasp is an exploration of those dark and intense emotions people experience when driven by the need for vengeance,” says Renzullo. “It’s a story that confronts difficult subject matter, but ultimately reveals the complexity of justice and what it means to seek retribution.”

Ian Hale, the owner of The Backlot Perth and founder of Halo Films, will take on the role of Executive Producer.

A fundraising campaign has been launched to help cover the costs of locations, cast, and crew.
