This contemporary take on a classic romance concept comes from the minds of Director Vicky Wanless [below] and emerging Screenwriter Elijah Sanderson, who aim to tackle a future with unregulated consumer-made artificial intelligence and its effects on our relationships, mental health and access to our minds and bodies.
Afterglow approaches the near future with a unique blend of visual effects and practical effects to deliver a visceral and convincing journey through the mind and memories of its lovelorn and broken protagonist. The film was shot primarily in 4K on the Sony FX6 to capture the magnitude and beauty of its rural Queensland locations, like the famous Kalbar Sunflower Farm.
The production team, including Props Master, Wayne Quilliam (Thor: Ragnarok), Cinematographer, James Stapledon (Refresh Films) and Editor Adrian Powers (Netflix’s Love is in the Air) have come together to make a formidable team and bring the story to life.
Afterglow aims to make its premiere in November 2024 and draw crowds at Australian and International film festivals from early 2025.
