Emerging Melbourne filmmaker and film student Kevin Duran Du is premiering his deeply personal short documentary GOLPES this Friday, July 18 at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, held at Cinema Nova.

The film captures the emotional story of Kevin’s 77-year-old father, Ulpiano—a retired musician who found healing in music after a lifetime of struggle and displacement. Blending poetic visuals with documentary storytelling, GOLPES explores memory, identity, and generational love.

“Nothing has brought me more joy, pride, or peace of mind than knowing I’ve immortalised my father on film.”
— Kevin Duran Du

Though this is GOLPES’ festival debut, Kevin’s previous works have been recognised at:
Multicultural Film Festival (People’s Choice Award – Best Victorian Film)
Australian Youth Film Festival 2025
