‘It’s Great Short Film, It’s On Tour, It’s The Vibe’
Celebrating 32 years in 2023, Flickerfest remains Australia’s leading Academy® Qualifying and BAFTA Recognised short film festival, ensuring that we continue to present A-list short film programmes recognised amongst the best in the world, with films hand-picked from the festival’s record 3,200 entries!
After a massive 10 day Kaleidoscopic carnival of shorts in Bondi in January, the Flickerfest festival is now on tour across Australia bringing the best of Australia and the worlds short films to over 50 venues nationally.
Flickerfest, Australia’s largest Short Film Festival, is excited to be returning for the 17th year to Kino Palace cinemas on Wednesday 12th April, 7pm for one night only, showcasing an entertaining, exciting programme of inspiring and award-winning films in our handpicked Best Of Melbourne Shorts Programme.
Selected for competition at Flickerfest Bondi, our Best Of Melbourne shorts features an amazing bunch of talented Melbourne creatives and their stories, giving Flickerfest Melbourne audiences the first look at the hottest shorts films made and produced in their hometown.
Best Of Melbourne Shorts highlights include the moving Iris Prize Award winning drama Tarneit, exploring the unbreakable bonds between two boys united by their deafness and their dream to one day escape the obstacles that surround them, the hilarious urban comedy The Best Dumplings In Melbourne about three friends’ quest on a Melbourne night out to find the perfect snack, quirky social media comedy Follow For Follow where an aspiring, narcissistic social media influencer meets a once powerful, ancient demigod who must take advantage of her skills to get new followers and the stunning BLVCK GOLD, a poetic exploration of self-determination set in inner Melbourne, made by and in the South Sudanese community and awarded Best Cinematography at Flickerfest 2023.
The Flickerfest Best Of Melbourne Shorts will take you on a not to be missed journey through some incredibly creative and inspiring cinema gems grown in your own Melbourne backyard, from a super charged team of talented directors.
For your ticket, you’ll get to watch all the hand-picked shorts and festival award-winners in one evening. Plus, as part of your ticket, you’ll get either a Gage Roads beer, Rosnay organic wine or Parkers organic drink. Not to mention the chance to hear from the filmmakers before the screening.
Flickerfest remains a platform for showcasing the most entertaining and innovative short filmmaking from Australia and around the world and celebrating these films and their makers with audiences on the big screen.
