Production has officially wrapped in Queensland on Swimmers, a sharp new Australian comedy series created and directed by Catherine Mack.

Described as a chaotic love letter to fertility, Swimmers explores the messy reality of trying to start a family when life doesn’t follow the traditional script.

The series stars Annabelle Stephenson (Revenge, Tidelands) alongside Zoe Ventoura (Packed to the Rafters, Home and Away), with guest appearances from Rick Donald (Roast Night, Wentworth), Jason Wilder (Irreverent) and Jason Perini (The Office Australia, Australia’s Sexiest Tradie).

At its core, Swimmers is a desperate search for sperm. Blending dry humour with emotional honesty, the series follows a woman navigating the increasingly strange landscape of modern fertility as she searches for a path to motherhood.

Creator and director Catherine Mack said the series grew from a desire to explore fertility with humour and humanity.

“Fertility is often framed as either tragedy or silence,” Mack said. “But the reality is often awkward, absurd, and can be deeply funny if you’ve cried so much you laugh. Swimmers lives in that messy middle.”

Swimmers was selected for funding through the second round of the Screen Queensland Online Production Grants. The initiative supports innovative online storytelling across the state, with five Queensland projects sharing $325,000 in production funding.

Official release details for Swimmers will be announced soon.
