ONE-OFF DOCUMENTARY PREMIERE SCREENING – Tues 10 March 7pm, Event Cinemas
Presented by The Rev Bill Crews Charitable Trust
Celebrating 40 years at Ashfield – and a lifetime of loving compassion
The new Rev Bill Crews documentary The Best of The Best commemorates 40 years since Bill commenced his uniquely hands-on charitable work at Ashfield. The 90-minute documentary is a highlight compile of his breakthrough online series Stories From the Edge which first aired in 2013. An amazing journey of tireless, loving compassion.
The inspirational, straight-shooting founder of the frontline charity, the Exodus Foundation, (now the Rev Bill Crews Foundation) has been on the ground and on the streets with the homeless and needy for over half a century. Forty of those years have been at Ashfield.
Filmed over the past 13 years, Stories From The Edge is a valuable archive of social issues that lie below the surface of cosmopolitan Sydney.
Ultimately it is Rev Bill Crews compassion that shines through. “I try to lift people up and give them the full honour they deserve,” says Crews.
His fights with the church. His fights for humanity. His fights for simple human dignity.
Inspired by the tireless loving compassion of the remarkable Bill Crews, this film is an important chronicle of a unique man and his work, at a unique moment in time.
