Never / Sleep Pictures, the indie Australian/UK production company founded by Kate Glover and Nathan Lewis, has begun 2025 with their feature Hot Milk in official selection at Berlinale and the cinema release late this month of Inside.
Hot Milk, written and directed by Rebecca Lenkiewicz, and based on the best-selling novel by Deborah Levy, had its world premiere in Berlin on Friday with reviewers describing the film as “surreal, exceptional and enigmatic”. The Independent gave the film a 4 out of 5 stars review.
Hot Milk is produced by Bonnie Productions, Never / Sleep Pictures and Heretic Films. Kate Glover produces with Christine Langan and Giorgos Karnavas and the film stars Emma Mackey, Vicky Krieps and Fiona Shaw.
Set in the scorching heat of a Spanish summer, the film follows Rose (Fiona Shaw) and her daughter Sofia (Emma Mackey) as they travel to the seaside town of Almería to consult Gómez (Vincent Perez), an enigmatic healer who may hold the key to Rose’s mysterious illness. But in the sun-drenched town, Sofia, trapped until now by her mother’s condition, begins to shed her inhibitions as she is drawn to the magnetic charms of a free-spirited traveller, Ingrid (Vicky Krieps) – Berlinale program
Never / Sleep’s Inside, starring Oscar-nominated actor Guy Pearce and directed by Charles Williams, director of Palme d’Or-winning short film All These Creatures, opens in cinemas in Australia on February 27, with Bonsai Films distributing.
The film, which follows a young man who moves from juvenile detention to an adult prison, had its World Premiere at the 2024 Melbourne International Film Festival and European premiere at the recent Gothenburg Film Festival.
Inside is a Macgowan Films, Never Sleep Pictures and Simpatico Films production in Co-Production with Filmgate Films, Film | Väst, Aurora Studios and Obscura.
Production has also recently wrapped in Greece and Bulgaria on Sacrifice, produced, written and directed by Romain Gavras, which Kate Glover co-produced alongside producers Iconoclast. The film stars Anya Taylor Joy, Chris Evans, Vincent Cassel, Salma Hayek Pinault and John Malkovich
