The Australian Women’s Film Festival (AWFF) will host a star-studded opening night at Event Cinemas, George Street, on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, celebrating the extraordinary talent, creativity and contribution of women across the Australian screen industry.
The evening will be hosted by Kylah Day, actor known for Territory, and will bring together leading names from the worlds of film, television, fashion, sport and entertainment.
Founded in 2020, AWFF was created to support, encourage and celebrate female storytellers, providing a platform for women to showcase their talent both in front of and behind the camera. The festival continues to champion greater representation in storytelling while celebrating the women who have helped shape the Australian screen industry.
The evening will also see AWFF present its annual Trailblazer Award and Groundbreaker Award, recognising exceptional contributions to the Australian screen industry. Finalist films will also be screened throughout the evening.
