Internationally acclaimed creator and performer Jennifer Monk has returned home to Australia with two major awards from the New Jersey Web Fest 2025 — taking home Best Writing and Outstanding Drama for her powerful digital series Slightly Cracked: THE TRILOGY.
Held annually in Montclair, New Jersey, the festival celebrates excellence in independent web and digital storytelling and is recognised globally for its professionalism, integrity, and strong sense of community.
Monk, who attended the festival in person, said she was overwhelmed by the warmth and support of the organisers and fellow creators.
“From the moment I arrived, I felt genuinely recognised and appreciated for my work. The festival team and attendees already knew my series, and their encouragement was incredible. It’s rare to experience that level of authenticity and support — they truly want you to succeed.”
The festival featured screenings in state-of-the-art cinemas, professional development workshops, and a red-carpet gala celebrating international creators from around the world.
About Slightly Cracked: THE TRILOGY
Mental health facilities. Funding cuts. Family dinners. Anyone has the potential to crack.
New mum Nadia is at crisis point and checks into the Head to Heath facility for some much-needed respite. This new-age facility provides free, around-the-clock mental healthcare alongside deluxe spa treatments, facials, yoga, cocktails and more… but is it all too good to be true?
Drawing upon real stories and interviews, this new work — created through a Girls Act Good creative development — began as a stage play written by Lisa Dallinger and Jennifer Monk, and was later adapted for the screen by Jennifer Monk (JMONK Vision) with Laura Jane Turner (F Word Films). The series explores the often grotesque nature of mental health treatment for women over time, shining a light on women’s resilience in such circumstances and helping to shed shame and stigma for the future.
Praised for its authenticity, dark humour, and emotional depth, Slightly Cracked: THE TRILOGY continues to gain global attention across major international web festivals, including nominations at New Zealand Web Fest, LA Web fest, LA Femme Film Festival, and more.
Jennifer Monk is the founder of JMONK Vision and Girls Act Good, and is an international award-winning writer, producer, and actor. With over 20 years of experience across theatre, film, and digital media, her work champions women’s voices and creates space for diverse, meaningful storytelling.
“Winning Best Writing and Outstanding Drama at a festival of this calibre is deeply affirming,” Monk said. “To have my work recognised among such talented peers reminds me why I create — to tell stories that connect and make people feel seen.”
