Cinema Nova will host a Melbourne exclusive Q&A with writer / director Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai), following a screening of his hit World War II thriller PRESSURE, on the evening of Tuesday October 20.
With the fate of the free world hanging in the balance, PRESSURE follows the true story of how meteorological forecasts shaped the outcome of ‘D-Day’ – the most dangerous seaborne invasion in world history, and a turning point in the Second World War.
Award-winning Australian-born filmmaker Anthony Maras directs Oscar winner Brendan Fraser (The Whale), two-time Olivier Award winner Andrew Scott (Fleabag, All Of Us Strangers) as General Dwight D. Eisenhower and chief meteorologist Captain James Stagg, respectively. Damien Lewis (Homeland), Kerry Condon (F1, The Banshees Of Inisherin) and Chris Messina (Argo, Air) co-star.
Having directed the acclaimed Hotel Mumbai (2018) and several award-winning short films, Anthony Maras is no stranger to edge-of-your-seat action thrillers based on true stories. Following a successful international release, PRESSURE has been acclaimed by critics and audiences.
“A well-mounted, extremely efficient World War II thriller, this latest from director/co-writer/editor Anthony Maras delivers an absorbing lesson in filmic forecasting, as the fate of the free world seesaws on the vagaries of wind speed, precipitation, cloud cover and visibility levels” – Ian Freer, Empire.
“Pressure is a well-acted, tense, and emotionally powerful film about one of the greatest achievements in military history” – Zach Youngs, In Session Film.
72 hours shaped the world. One decision changed history.
The Melbourne Exclusive Q&A session will screen on Tuesday October 20 at 6.45pm at Cinema Nova, Carlton. Tickets are available from the Cinema Nova website.
