The rundown for the fourth Melbourne WebFest has dropped. The international web series festival received some 230 submissions this time around, and have winnowed them down to 55 series from 15 different countries, to be shown at Deakin Edge, Federation Square, from July 1 – 3.
“We are really excited about this year’s program,” said Festival Director, Steinar Ellingsen. “We have a stellar line-up in the Official Selection and our speakers. The selection panel’s job is getting more difficult every year, and this is a great testament to the quality of web series being produced in Australia and around the world. This year’s selection is undoubtedly the strongest we’ve ever had, and it’s also the most diverse.”
Content creators will have a range of new opportunities to look forward to this year, chief among them Pitch Perfect @ MWF with ABC iview, a pitching competition with a $5000 prize waiting for the winner. also on the calendar is the Industry Development Day, hosted by LaTrobe university, which includes master classes and workshops on a number of technologies and production elements.
