Established in 2016 by the Made in Melbourne Film Festival, the Indigenous Script to Screen Initiative is designed to give voice to Indigenous filmmakers. The Initiative was created in response to recognition of the fact that, in the eight years of MIMFF’s existence, not one single entrant has been of Indigenous descent.
In early August, Melbourne animator and Wadawarrung woman Stephanie Skinner’s script, Half, was selected as the inaugural recipient, with MIMFF kicking in $3000, while threecatsinlimbo Productions is donating $1000 worth of equipment rental, plus mentorship and advice.
The production is seeking an additional $20,000 via Pozible to make the film a reality. Check out the campaign here.
