THE BEAR (1988) “This is the 2001: A Space Odyssey of animal movies. It’s the perfect fusion of amazing nature photography and fiction. The lead, Bart The Bear, went on to feature in numerous other movies, and became a star. He even got to work with Brad Pitt!”

STORM BOY (1976) “This is a classic Australian movie that I’ve loved since I was a kid. It’s a magical, evocative and still prescient story about a boy befriending a pelican on the isolated wind-swept beaches of South Australia.”

THE BLACK STALLION (1979) “This is also possibly one of my all-time favourite films. Think Terrence Malick meets Walt Disney. It reminds me why I want to make movies.”

KING KONG (1976) “This 1976 remake is my provocative choice. I was twelve-years-old and obsessed with this movie when it came out. In my mind, it’s still modern, and a far better and fresher remake than Peter Jackson’s 2005 version. I cried like a baby when Kong was shot down. I still do.”

BABE (1995) “I’m an obsessive George Miller fan. He is a true master and pioneer. Both Babe movies totally re-invented the way that filmmakers perceived and depicted animals in movies.”
