Josh Lawson, director of The Little Death and star of House of Lies and Anchorman 2, has been handpicked to play Australian comedy icon, Paul Hogan, in the upcoming Channel Seven miniseries, Hoges,  by FremantleMedia Australia.

The project will chart Hogan’s rise from working class smart aleck – he famously worked construction on the Sydney Harbour Bridge before making the jump to TV – to global superstar with the success of the Crocodile Dundee franchise.

Lawson joins Justine Clarke as Hogan’s now ex-wife, Noelene, and Ryan Corr as John “Strop” Cornell, Hogan’s longtime comedy partner. Also in the cast are Laura Gordon as Linda Kozlowski, and Nikki Osborn as Delvene Delaney.

Said Lawson, “Paul Hogan has always been one of my heroes, so this role is as exciting as it is challenging. He’s such an iconic figure. Everyone loves Hoges and one of his great gifts was making audiences feel like we really knew him. But there’s so much of his life that many people don’t know about and I’m thrilled that I get to be a part of telling his incredible story. And to be able to make this back in my hometown of Brisbane just makes it all the more special for me.”

Production of Hoges is currently underway under the direction of Kevin Carlin, with Brett Popplewell producing.
