Actually screened at this year’s CinefestOZ Film Festival in WA, but delayed for release until March next year (a Sundance slot may be in the waiting), Jasper Jones is set during a scorching summer in 1969 when a bookish boy (Levi Miller, Pan, Red Dog: True Blue) is woken by the titular mixed race outcast, taking them on a journey into a forest and a mystery that will consume the entire community.
The cast includes Angourie Rice (The Nice Guys), Dan Wyllie, Toni Collette, Hugo Weaving, Matt Nable and Aaron L. McGrath (GLITCH) as Jasper, and sees Rachel Perkins (Radiance, Bran Nue Dae) back in the director’s chair. The script was written by Shaun Grant (Snowtown), and the film is produced by Vincent Sheehan and David Jowsey.
