Relativity Media’s long-in-gestation remake of Alex Proyas’ cult 1994 gothic actioner, The Crow, has a new leading man. After Mark Walhberg, Bradley Cooper, Luke Evans, Jack Huston and countless others* have danced around the role, Jason Momoa is now the hot lead for director Corin Hardy’s proposed reboot.

Word first came, as in so many things, from Instagram, where Momoa posted a pic of himself and Hardy:

For those in the dark, The Crow, based on James O’Barr’s cult comic of the same name, tells the story of Eric Draven (the late Brandon Lee in the original) who comes back from the dead to avenge the murder of himself and his fiancee. Presumably the redux will have to go to some lengths to explain how the formidable Momoa got killed in the first place.

More news as it develops.

*The casting of The Crow‘s lead role has been insane, with James McAvoy, Tom Hiddleston, Ryan Gosling, Norman Reedus, Sam Witwer, Alexander Skarsgard, Channing Tatum and Nicholas Hoult all rumoured to be in the running at some point.

Waiting for some bros to have a huge whinge about remakes.

Oh, wait, it’s not a woman in the lead. Nothing to see here.
