Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, is perhaps the most accessible A-list director on the planet. He maintains a near-constant social media presence across multiple platforms, but seems to have really made Facebook his home, where he frequently goes live to answer questions directly from his fans and generally behaves like an awesome human being, calming the troubled waters of DC vs Marvel fractiousness, waxing philosophical about success vs happiness, and of course, dropping teasers, tidbits and behind-the-scenes goodness about his upcoming project, the hotly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Like anyone, though, Mr. Gunn does grow weary of answering the same questions over and over again, so today he posted a Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 FAQ in the hopes of clearing up some of the more constant cries from the madding crowd. Among the things we learned:
The trailer is pencilled in for “before Christmas”.
Gunn’s favourite Marvel movie is, in fact, Iron Man.
The “big Easter egg” in Guardians of the Galaxy has not been found yet (so there’s a reason for a re-watch).
Gunn’s favourite directors include “Sergio Leone, Wong Kar Wai, Martin Scorsese, David Cronenberg, Lukas Moodysson, Paul Greengrass, Bong Joon-ho, Preston Sturges, Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, John Woo”.
“Thanos is not in Vol. 2.”
And apparently Chris Pratt smells like armadillo urine.
The whole thing is pretty funny and informative. Go take a look and start following Gunn on Facebook – it’s a really fun time.
