It hasn’t seen the light of day here yet, but Hounds of Love, the recently-completed debut feature from music video veteran Ben Young, has already made an impact on the festival circuit. The thriller will make its public bow at the Venice Film Festival in the Venice Days side program.
The film, which Young wrote as well as directed, centres on a teenage girl (Ashleigh Cummings) who is abducted by a bizarre couple (Emma Booth and Stephen Curry) and must outwit them to survive. Susie Porter and Damian de Montemas also star. Being selected for Venice Days puts the film in the running for a cash prize of €20,000.
Hounds of Love was funded via ScreenWest’s West Coast Visions program, which recently funded the bikie drama 1%.
Venice Days runs from August 31 – September 10. An Australian release date is yet to be announced.
