If you want to make it in this tough biz, you have to be a go-getter, and there’s no one more persistent than Holly Hargreaves, who has been rewarded for her efforts this year with two selections at Flickerfest.
The Hunt is a dystopian drama where women kill off men in the name of equality…. Sounds rather timely! ‘5 female hunters must choose between loyalty or the law.
The Hunt is co-written and co-directed by Hargreaves and Catherine Mack, and starring Ruby Rees, Kaarin Fairfax, Mac, Hargreaves, Luci Hare, Oscar Trinchi and Alex Tarrant.
Additionally, Holly Hargeaves has co-written and co-directed the improv comedic drama Trying with Simone Ball, and the pair also co-star along with Melbourne indie mainstay Jackson Tozer (Lazybones) and Frank Fazio.
No doubt inspired by the Duplass brothers and Joe Swanberg, Trying follows two couples as they spend the weekend away together, only to be confronted with the problems in their relationships.
“I’m so excited to be have 2 of my short films be selected for a such a great festival as Flickerfest,” Hargreaves told us. “I couldn’t have done it without my awesome co-directors Catherine Mack and Simone Ball, who were both great to collaborate with.
“Being an academy accredited festival, Flickerfest is such a fantastic festival to be a part of, and I’m so excited to have both The Hunt and Trying play there in January.”
