Look, we’ll just come out and say it: you’re not excited enough about The Great Wall. It’s out in February and frankly, a giant historical epic directed by China’s Zhang Yimou (Hero, House of Flying Daggers) with all the pageantry and sweep that entails, should have almost every cineaste champing at the bit.

Admittedly, the publicity campaign has been a bit low key, if by “low key” you mean “not saturating every possible information vector and oh that’s right there’s a Star Wars movie out now”. Thankfully, we have three behind the scenes clips that’ll help change that, wherein Matt Damon, Andy Lau, Willem Dafoe, and Pedro Pascal wax lyrical about working with Yimou who is, by any stretch, one for the world’s greatest filmmakers. Plus, we get a decent look at the sheer scale of this thing, which is… well, hyperbole’s not our strong suit, so let’s go with “impressive”.

The Great Wall hits Australian cinemas on February 16, 2017.
