More titles for Sundance 2017 have been released, and a new film by Australian director, Alethea Jones, is on the slate.

Starring  Toni Collette, Adam Scott, Molly Shannon and Adam Devine, Fun Mom Dinner tells the story of “Four women, whose kids attend the same preschool class, [who] get together for a ‘fun mom dinner.’ When the night takes an unexpected turn, these unlikely new friends realise they have more in common than just marriage and motherhood. Together, they reclaim a piece of the women they used to be.”

The film joins an impressive roster of big screen premieres, including new films by Charlie McDowell, Michael Showalter, Jim Strouse and Michael Almereyda.

An Australian television veteran, Jones has directed numerous episodes of The Elegant Gentleman’s Guide to Knife Fighting and Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street. She came to prominence in 2012 when her short film, Lemonade Stand, won the 20th anniversary TropFest short film competition.

Jones isn’t the only Australian filmmaker to make the scene in Park City this year – writer and director Damien Power’s Killing Ground has been selected for the Midnight program. Starring Aaron Pedersen, Ian Meadows, Harriet Dyer, Aaron Glenane, the film sees a young couple drawn into a world of madness and terror when they discover an abandoned campsite and a distressed child.

Additionally, Kriv Stenders’ Red Dog: True Blue will play in will play in the Sundance Kids section of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.
