Ed Skrein, star of the pretty good Deadpool and the pretty average Transporter: Refuelled, has proved he’s a pretty good guy by pulling out of the pretty intriguing reboot of the Hellboy film franchise. The reason? The character he was cast to play, BPRD agent Ben Daimio, is of Japanese heritage, and our man Skrein most certainly is not.

Skrein used Twitter to put out the following statement:

Nice one, Ed! We are of course, still hella excited for the new Hellboy, entitled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, which sees British horror maestro (and Game of Thrones frequent flyer) Neil Marshall taking over from the great Guillermo del Toro, with Stranger Things‘ David Harbour stepping into the role of Hellboy, Ian McShane taking over from John Hurt as Trevor Bruttenholm, and Milla Jovovich essaying the villain, Nimue the Blood Queen. We’ve been promised a hard R (MA15+, fellow Australians), so that’s something to look forward to.
