Stephen King fans rejoice! Word from Toronto is that Andy Muschietti has commenced principal photography on IT: Chapter 2, his follow up to the extremely well received IT, which we rather liked. The sequel sees us return to the cursed town of Derry, Maine with the reformed Losers’ Club, now all grown up, to battle the demonic shapeshifting clown Pennywise once more.
Which means we have a lot of new cast additions to fill out the adult ensemble.James McAvoy (Split, Glass) is on board as Bill, Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Mama) as Beverly, Bill Hader (Barry, The Skeleton Twins) is Richie – and let’s just reflect on what a note-perfect piece of casting that is – Isaiah Mustafa (Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) is Mike, Jay Ryan (Mary Kills People) is Ben, James Ransone (The Wire) is Eddie, and Andy Bean (Allegiant, Power) presumably has a short cameo as Stanley, unless they’ve really drifted off the book’s plot.
Fans of the juvenile edition of the Losers have reasons to be cheerful, too- they’re all making a return, too: Jaeden Lieberher as Bill, Wyatt Oleff as Stanley, Sophia Lillis as Beverly, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie. And, (super)naturally, Bill Skarsgård returns as Pennywise.
IT: Chapter 2 is set to open in Australia and New Zealand on September 5, 2019.
