Well, this is a cute way to do it.
With every new Star wars movie comes, naturally, a tsunami of merchandise of all stripes: toys, clothes, those weird Jar Jar Binks tongue lollipops – anything that can possibly have a Star Wars logo on it will have one.
However, rather than just do a marathon unboxing session ala last year’s Force Friday, this year the benevolent plutocrats at Marvel and DC have taken an different tack with #GoRogue, a series of four fan-made stop-motion shorts that will be hitting the Star Wars YouTube channel over the course of September. And here’s the first one, showcasing over 40 new toys – count ’em.
The toys themselves don’t hit shelves until September 30, but pre-orders start in the next couple of days. Coinciding with all this is the official Star Wars #GoRogue competition – make a two minute Star Wars short for your chance to win a trip to LucasFilm in San Francisco – details are here.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is out on December 15, 2016.
