With gender equality a hot topic issue within the film and television industry, the Australian Directors Guild has announced their nominees for 2016, and a third are women.
In the Feature Film category, the nominees are Jocelyn Moorhouse for The Dressmaker, Sue Brooks for Looking for Grace, Jeremy Sims for Last Cab to Darwin and Bentley Dean and Martin Butler for Tanna.
The Documentary Feature category also contains a strong contingent of women with Jennifer Peedom nominated for her spectacular Everest doco Sherpa, Margot Nash for the experimental and autobiographical The Silences, Lisa Nicol for the inspiring Wide Open Sky, Stefan Moore and Susan Lambert for Tyke Elephant Outlaw, and Nick Bird and Eleanor Sharpe for their moving portrait of a romance with Remembering The Man.
The 2016 ADG Awards will be held on May 6 in Melbourne and tickets are on sale now.
