The nominees for the AACTA Best Feature Length Documentary, Best Short animation and Best Short Fiction Film were announced by Presto today, marking the beginning of the long race until the AACTA ceremony held on Monday, December 5, at the Star Event Centre in Sydney.
The countdown to this year’s top Australian screen awards has officially commenced, with the first nominees for the 6th AACTA Awards presented by Presto announced today.
Oscar winner Eva Orner (Taxi to the Dark Side) scored her first AACTA nomination for Chasing Asylum in the Best Feature Length Documentary Category, where she will vie for the award with Dan Jackson (In the Shadow of the Hill), Nickolas Bird and Eleanor Sharpe (Remembering the Man), and Lizzette Atkins and George Gittoes (Snow Monkey).
Best Short Animation nominees include Joel Best, Alex Jeremy and Alex Karonis (The Albatross); Meireka Walsh and Donna Chang (The Crossing); Bonnie Forsyth and Grace Lim (Femme Enfant); and Angie Fielder, Brendan Fletcher, and Del Kathryn Barton (Oscar Wilde’s “The Nightingale and the Rose).
The Best Short Fiction Film Category will be contested by Darlene Johnson and Heather Oxenham (Bluey); Lucy Gaffy and Kiki Dillon (Dream Baby); Yianni Warnock and Charles Williams (Homebodies); and Steven Arriagada, Llewellyn Michael Bates and Bryan Chau (Nathan Loves Ricky Martin).
All the nominees announced today will screen during the Presto Official Screenings Program at Event Cinemas Bondi Junction and Cinema Nova in Melbourne, as well as online at AACTA TV. The program is available only to AFI and AACTA members.
