Having screened at Melbourne Documentary Film Festival, with seasons at Cinema Nova (Melbourne) and The Pivotonian (Geelong), this first feature length documentary by Narrm/Melbourne based video artist and festival director Jessie Scott, uses lively interviews and site studies of many legendary, now defunct video shops, to uncover a secret history of a brief but impactful era.
Made on a micro-budget over a period of 8 years, Rainbow Video captures a transitional moment in film culture and art, and unpacks the gains and losses of embracing new technology.
