The Lab is an important development vehicle to enable film co-production across the 70 countries and areas of the Asia Pacific
The Asia Pacific Screen Lab is a developmental laboratory for early career feature filmmakers from across the Asia Pacific, who have typically made at least one feature film within the frame of their national cinema and are now ready for a larger international framework.
The highly successful programme offers emerging feature filmmakers of the Asia Pacific a tailor made, year-long immersive development programme to further their project, helping them make the move to working in a broader international framework.
Currently in its eighth year, the Asia Pacific Screen Lab has doubled its intake, and forged a new relationship with Film Schools Without Borders to support emerging filmmakers from countries without established film schools.
Successful participants are matched carefully with a mentor who is a member of the prestigious Academy of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA).
The mentors, participants and industry experts gather several times to workshop the selected projects. Previous projects include the awarding winning feature films A Land Imagined (2018) and Haifa Street (2019).
The Asia Pacific Screen Lab is now accepting submissions for 2024. Successful projects will be announced as part of the 16th Asia Pacific Screen Awards on Friday 3 November 2023.
Submission close 1st October 2023.
