Trailer: Michael Flatley in Blackbird
The Lord of the Dance releases trailer for his writing/directing/acting debut spy thriller, which also stars Eric Roberts and Patrick Bergin, likely reflecting the quality of this production. The film premiered 4 years ago, and is only now being released in Ireland. Our fave bit of this admittedly ok trailer is the focused rain - don't you hate it when that happens!?

Despite some arguably scurrilous comments I am really looking forward to The Blackbird starring Michael Flatley even though it sounds like an ego trip to Casablanca! It looks so cool and could be a great middle finger to his critics. Until it comes out I’m going to re-read one of the most noir factual espionage masterpieces you’ll ever find. It’s an elusive and enigmatic thriller and a down to earth curious real life Cold War novel you’ll never put down. It’s the first stand-alone spy thriller in The Burlington Files series by Bill Fairclough’s called Beyond Enkription. It’s about a (real life) MI6 agent on the run from international organised crime gangs and Haiti’s TonTon Macoute from London to Nassau and Port au Prince to Miami. Now that may sound a bit like The Gray Man but the difference between these two books is that The Burlington Files series has had mainly five star reviews, it’s fact based, full of real characters and was written for espionage cognoscenti.
