Set in Austin’s vibrant music scene, Song to Song sees metaphysical director Terrence Malick point his wide-angle lens at a quartet of breathlessly beautiful people wrestling with, as always, the big questions. Ryan Gosling, Michael Fassbender, Rooney Mara and Natalie Portman all glow in the embrace of Malick’s lovingly-crafted frame, while Cate Blanchett, Christian Bale, Benicio del Toro, Iggy Pop, Val Kilmer, Clifton Collins Jr., Callie Hernandez, Holly Hunter and more round out the ensemble. Although it doesn’t have an Australian release date yet, Song to Song will make its world premiere at, predictably enough, SXSW on March 10.
However, Malick’s other new film (two in one year!) does have an Australian date. Narrated by Brad Pitt, Voyage of Time: A Life’s Journey is “An examination of the birth and death of the known universe.” as the official precis says. It’ll be seen in IMAX theatres from March 30. Take a look:
