STAR WARS: EPISODE IV – A NEW HOPE (1977) “I feel like I belong. When I first saw this as a kid, I was hooked, and it has remained such an integral part of who I am. I feel like it’s just part of my generation, and everyone that I know shares the same connection. If they don’t, then what on earth is the matter with them? Let’s face it, who hasn’t tried to use The Force?”

DUNE (1984) “I saw this when I was thirteen at the movies, and I was gobsmacked. It just had some magnificent presence, and it has stayed with me ever since. It’s always been my secret favourite since then. I love a good unsuspecting hero flick, and this one was definitely it. It was super creative, and the characters were so out there that it just blew my mind. I loved it.”

ESCAPE FROM FORT BRAVO (1953) “I had to put this one in because it represents an important part of my upbringing. It’s an old cowboy flick with William Holden. There are probably many others that deserve mention, but this one always stood out for me. I stumbled across it one rainy Sunday afternoon at my Nana’s, and once again, the unsuspecting hero gets my vote. I grew up on westerns and war movies, which were always on TV on the weekend. They are always very special to me, and I used to watch them often with my Grandpa. Good times.”

MOONRISE KINGDOM (2012) “To be honest, I like all Wes Anderson films, but this is probably my favourite. I love his relentless creativity and stylised comedy combined with exquisitely planned and executed shots. He is a master of film and writing, and I just love his work. It is where I would hope to go someday.”

THE PRINCESS BRIDE (1987) “Well, there are so many comedies, but like so many other people, this is one of my favourites. It is so shameless in its kooky styling, and beautiful with its understated script and directing. I have watched it so many times and will continue to do so many more times. It’s got a nice bit of romance too, and in truth, I am a bit of a romantic. I like happy endings…don’t take that the wrong way! Ha ha!”
