RSPCA NSW is rolling out the red carpet for creatures great and small this October in Moore Park.
After hosting our first ever Short Film Festival in 2023, RSPCA NSW is coming back in 2026 as we look to spotlight what our organisation is doing for animal welfare across the state.
On October 28, ‘RSPCA in Shorts’ will take place at the HOYTS Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park. From life-changing rescue stories to heartwarming insights into the people behind every success, these films capture the compassion, resilience and hope at the heart of everything we do.
This year’s festival will also support our new Community Pet Pantry initiative, which aims to ensure pets remain with their families even regardless of the difficulties they may be facing.
We’re inviting attendees to bring a small bag of unopened pet food to the festival. Together, we can ensure no family has to choose between supporting themselves and feeding their pet.
RSPCA NSW Film Festival organiser Helen Trussler stressed feedback from the previous screening highlighted the need for another event.
“What I loved most about the 2023 festival was the guest feedback when they left the cinema saying how they had no idea about the depth of our work, how they’d love learning about everything we do, how they’d loved the mix of films we’d showed, and how the festival had brought it all to life,” Helen said.
“Due to the complexity of the work that we do, some of which can be quite challenging to witness, the films can be difficult to record. While we want to show what we do, some imagery can be too graphic to share, and we know that the public would not want to see it.
“The 2026 festival will showcase a brand-new collection of short films that will shine a light on the incredible work of RSPCA NSW across our communities.
“From heartwarming rescues and groundbreaking advances in animal welfare to the dedicated people behind every success story, the films capture the compassion, resilience and hope at the heart of everything we do.”
