Spotlight Series – Special Presentation – Wednesday September 23
All That Glisters, the feature film debut from writer/director Trilby Glover, has been selected as the Special Presentation in the Spotlight Series at next week’s Australian Women’s Film Festival in Sydney.
The screening, on Wednesday September 23 at 6pm at Event Cinemas, George Street, will be followed by an In Conversation with Trilby.
All That Glisters is a comedy mystery examining power, ambition, and friendship in the hilarious glitzy world of a Hollywood Hills dinner party, where a clique of aging artists and starry-eyed ingenues gather for wine, validation, and one more shot at relevance — only to find their egos unravelling, secrets exposed, and relationships dissolving into glistering chaos.
Ambitions wrestle with friendship. Truths rise to the surface. As these Hollywood types try to find meaning in their lives amidst the wine, the glistering moon, and the madness of being an artist – the evening slips into something they’ll never quite explain.
The ensemble cast of 13 dinner party guests includes Trilby in a leading role, alongside Jessica McNamee, Caitlin Stasey, Luka Jones, Ryan Cartwright, Ben Geurens, Michael Hitchcock, Corbett Tuck, Jocelyn Towne, Johnny Ray Meeks, Emily Alpren, Archie Panjabi, Adam Campbell, Jayma Mays, Zeke Goodman and Morgan Dover-Pearl.
The film had its World Premiere at the recent CinefestOz in Western Australia and the Australian Women’s Film Festival presentation will be its east coast premiere.
Trilby said: “I am so thrilled to be featured in connection with this important festival that shines a light on female creators at a time where we saw, just last week, only one film directed by woman selected in competition for the famous Venice Film festival. We still have so much work to do in this area. I loved creating so many fantastic, interesting female characters, many of whom are 40+ and delighted to share my work in connection with AWFF.”
Australian Women’s Film Festival Co-Director, Tahyna MacManus, said: “We’re thrilled to launch the 2026 Spotlight Series with Trilby Glover and All That Glisters. Trilby has forged her own path across acting, writing and directing, building a career across both Australia and the United States and we’re delighted to celebrate her feature directorial debut and hear more about that journey.”
Trilby’s debut short film Awkward Expressions of Love premiered on opening night at the prestigious Palm Springs International ShortFest, before screening at the Cleveland International Film Festival. It won Best Female Filmmaker at the Chicago Comedy Film Festival, followed by screenings at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Flickerfest, Vail Film Festival and CinefestOZ. It also won Best Comedy at Brazil’s MICA Film Festival.
As an actress, she is best known for Netflix’s MONSTER: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Scream Queens (FOX), 88 Minutes and Righteous Kill alongside Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
All that Glisters producer is Lindsy Lanzillotta, with executive producer Ian Brennan, co-producer Simone Kirlew, editor Jonathan Melin, composer Deron Johnson and music supervisor Sophie Delila Baudry.
