Over 100 new sessions and 30,000+ seats go on sale Friday, following three weeks of sold-out screenings and thousands of guests through the doors.

Event Cinemas will release a new batch of cinema sessions for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey at IMAX Sydney, responding to sustained demand that has already seen over 160 sessions sell out and more than 50,000 moviegoers experience the film or book to see soon, on one of the world’s biggest cinema screens.

Tickets for the new sessions go on sale at 9:30am Friday, 7 August 2026, covering screenings from Thursday 20 August through to Wednesday 23 September.

The new on sale includes:
• Over 100 new sessions and 30,000+ seats
•Early morning sessions every Saturday and Sunday
•An additional dedicated Open Captions session on Saturday, 12 September

With most sessions sold out for the next few weeks, demand shows no signs of slowing. Moviegoers are encouraged to book early to secure their preferred session. The only place to buy tickets is eventcinemas.com.au

The Odyssey is the first narrative feature film ever shot in 100% 15-perf 70mm IMAX film cameras, making cinematic history.

Claire Gandy, General Manager of Film at Event Cinemas, said: “The response to The Odyssey at IMAX Sydney has been extraordinary. With three weeks of sold-out sessions and thousands of guests already through our doors, we know just how much audiences want to see this movie the way it was filmed to be seen. Releasing over 100 new sessions and 30,000 additional seats means more moviegoers can experience The Odyssey on one of the biggest screens in the world.”
