Whoa, fire up! If this rip-roaring trailer is any indication, the latest effort from master director Paul Greengrass (the Bourne flicks, United 93) could very well be the new Braveheart! Right down to the – as history dictates – bummer ending. In what looks to be a heartfelt, fiery AF performance, Andrew Garfield stars as real-life historical figure Wat Tyler, a humble and put-upon ploughman who not-so-famously led a peasants’ rebellion against the despotic, tax-happy King Richard II in 1381 England. Filled with enough burn-the-rich sentiment and riot-in-the-streets action to make King Charles III sweat (and maybe even his brother, who apparently can’t sweat), The Uprising looks like an action-packed historical epic of the first order that also feels incredibly timely in these absurdly unjust days of extreme haves and have-nots. Bring it on!
