Melbourne’s only dedicated Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese film club announces an unmissable 2026 season, bringing the best of contemporary and classic Ibero-American cinema to Hawthorn’s iconic Lido Cinemas.
Now in its 26th year, Melbourne Filmoteca continues its mission to celebrate the extraordinary breadth of Latin American, Spanish and Portuguese filmmaking. 2026 promises to be its most exciting season yet. For the second year, the group makes its home at Lido Cinemas in Hawthorn, one of Melbourne’s most beloved boutique cinema experiences. Screenings are on the first Thursday of every month at 6:30pm. All films are presented with English subtitles.
The 2026 program spans contemporary award-winners and rediscovered classics, featuring films from across Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Spain and beyond. Highlights include the Academy Award-winning I’m Still Here (Brazil, May) and celebration befitting 26 years of cultural storytelling.
