Perhaps eyeing off the same kind of success as his fellow YouTubers Danny & Michael Philippou (Talk To Me, Bring Her Back), Kane Parsons aka Kane Pixels uses his own same-titled web series as inspiration for his feature film directing debut. Boasting a David Lynch-meets-Charlie Kaufmann brand of surrealist chilliness, Backrooms follows Chiwetel Ejiofor’s harried everyman, who discovers a bizarre portal into another world (or something) in the basement of a furniture showroom…with disastrous consequences. Filled with striking imagery and full-tilt performances, Backrooms looks seriously compelling…and very scary.
