Acclaimed director David Michôd and award-winning composer Antony Partos will open the Australian Guild of Screen Composers Scoring Summit on December 6 with a keynote conversation exploring their long-standing creative collaboration (Christy, Animal Kingdom, The Rover).
Focusing on their latest feature Christy — the remarkable true story of champion boxer Christy Martin, starring Sydney Sweeney — David and Antony will delve into the artistic, technical, and emotional process of bringing a story to life through music, offering rare insight into the collaborative relationship between composer and filmmaker.
“I have worked with David over a long period of time on a number of projects and it builds a certain price and language that goes with collaboration on large projects,” said Antony Partos after returning from Los Angeles for the premiere of Christy.
The AGSC’s Kingston Anderson added: “The AGSC Screen Composers conference is not just for screen composers, it is for all screen industry creatives who want to understand and develop their relationships with composers. Panels on music supervision, AI, contracts, royalties and soundtracks are just a few of the sessions over the two days in December.”
As part of the Conference there will be an opportunity to directly connect with various members of the screen industry with the “One-on-One” sessions. These 10-minute chats with industry professionals will allow composers to understand the industry and make new connections. Some of the professionals in the sessions include MITCH STEWART (The DA’s Office), PASHA OSTOVAR (Screen lead APRA AMCOS), ROSEMARY BLIGHT (Producer at Goalpost Pictures), DARREN ASHTON (Director), ANTONY PARTOS (Sonar Music) and many more to be announced in the coming weeks.
