Audiences are getting their first look at the brand-new Australian comedy series ‘Til You Make It with the release of its official teaser trailer – offering a hilarious and heartfelt glimpse into the world of Mei and Tim, a married couple trying to make it big, stay sane, and hold onto their dreams (and each other) along the way.

Starring real-life husband and wife Emma Choy (Darklands, Neighbours) and Philip Hayden (Romper Stomper) as Mei and Tim, who are forty-something dreamers still hustling for their big break. Mei, a Chinese-Australian wannabe, is ambitious, insecure and unfiltered. Tim, her easy-going but equally lost husband, just tries to keep up. Together they lurch from one humiliating mishap to the next, holding onto each other as everything else spins out of control.
“Sometimes you really do have to fake it until you make it,” says series co-creator and writer Philip Hayden, who created the show alongside Emma Choy and Scott Major (Darklands, Riptide). “We wanted to tell a story that captures what it feels like to chase your dreams long after everyone else tells you to grow up.”
The teaser offers the first official footage of the ensemble cast, featuring a powerhouse lineup of Australian talent: Damian Walsh-Howling (Last King of the Cross), Nadine Garner (The Doctor Blake Mysteries), Menik Gooneratne (Mortal Engines), Kym Valentine (Neighbours), Tilly Legge (The Clearing), Scott Major (Heartbreak High), Amanda LaBonté (Safe Home), Stephen Phillips (Bring Her Back), Jessica Martin (Salt & Vinegar), Candice Leaske (Neighbours), Lansy Feng (Of Course I Speak French), and Francesca Waters (Together).
Produced by Emma Choy, Philip Hayden, Scott Major, Riley Sugars (Hatchback, Ashes – both AACTA-nominated shorts) and Gemma Louise Murphy (Invisible), who also serves as Director’s Attachment, ‘Til You Make It brings together some of Australia’s brightest creative voices.
The series was directed by co-creator Scott Major, shot by cinematographer Anthony Littlechild (Hatchback), with production design by Nina Pejcic (“Daisy” by HP ONIT Ft. A GIRL), costumes by Nicholas Wakerley (Neighbours), and editing by Cameron Ford (The Katering Show). Title music is arranged and produced by acclaimed Australian rock artist Dallas Frasca.
“Working with some great friends on something that makes you laugh, cry and cringe all at once was an absolute joy,” said Major. “When I first read the scripts, I was laughing out loud — I knew immediately I wanted to bring this to life.”
Filmed entirely in Victoria, the independently financed series is Coming Soon.
Until then, the newly released teaser gives audiences a taste of what’s to come — a heartfelt, whip-smart exploration of marriage, ambition, and the art of pretending you’ve got it all together.
