The move is encouraged by the hectic period in newspaper publishing and the aim to keep jobs while innovating by venturing into the gaming space. Torstar is projecting to generate CA$500m (US$395) in revenue through the gaming app that residents normally spend annually which will allow them to create new jobs. The company is chartering into new business and believe this is the right business for growth and the community which they have been servicing for more than 127 years.
