The ABC’s groundbreaking documentary series You Can’t Ask That is back in production for its eighth season – returning at a time when honest, unfiltered conversations matter more than ever.
As the world shifts at speed, new questions and new voices have emerged. This season once again hands the mic to communities more often spoken about than heard, offering a platform for candid, unguarded perspectives.
Through compelling interviews, contributors answer the questions Australians are curious about but rarely ask, breaking down stereotypes, challenging assumptions and revealing the humanity behind the headlines.
Series creator, Kirk Docker, said: “Why are we back? It’s pretty simple. At a time when the world is increasingly fragmented and disconnected, the ability to step into someone else’s shoes and understand the experiences of people who are misunderstood or marginalised is as important as ever. Plus, some fascinating new groups have surfaced!”
For its return, You Can’t Ask That will be casting a wide net and considering the following subjects: Scammed, Kids of Celebrities, Heroin, Modern Slaves, AI Relationships, Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD), Kinks, Teen Mums, Accidental Heroes, Survivors of War, Indian Australians, Really Tall.
If you would like to apply to be on You Can’t Ask That, or to submit questions for any of the new subjects or for a topic idea of your own, go to: www.abc.net.au/youcantaskthat or email youcantaskthat@dockermedia.com.au.
