Adelaide Hills film production company Sunup Workshop has announced the inaugural recipients of its Producing Pathways Program, an initiative designed to fast-track emerging South Australian producers into the screen industry through hands-on experience in feature film development.

Hosted by South Australian producer Isabelle Scott alongside internationally renowned Hollywood producer E. Bennett Walsh (Kill Bill, Mortal Kombat, The Amazing Spider-Man 2), the program represents a significant collaboration bringing global industry expertise to South Australia while helping train the next generation of local film producers.

The program offers participants a rare opportunity to learn feature film development in real time through hands-on experience, working alongside experienced screen industry professionals while contributing to active film projects currently in development with Sunup Workshop.

Participants gain practical insight into the full producing process, from story development and budgeting to financing strategy, partnerships and production planning. Producer Isabelle Scott said the program was created to help open practical pathways into the industry. “South Australia has extraordinary creative talent, but the pathway into producing can be difficult without access to real industry experience,” Scott said. “Producing Pathways allows emerging filmmakers to step inside the process — learning how films move from idea to screen while working alongside experienced industry leaders.”

International producer E. Bennett Walsh said developing producers was essential to building a strong screen industry. “Every successful film begins with producers who know how to champion a story and bring the right creative team together,” Walsh said. “This program gives emerging producers the opportunity to learn the craft in a real production environment, which is one of the most valuable experiences they can have.”

Program participant Jasmin Watkins said she was excited to be part of the initiative. “Having access to the financing side of a feature film during development is incredibly exciting,” Watkins said. “It’s often hard to see how projects raise finance while managing all the other moving elements, so being part of that process offers a rare and valuable insight into how a film comes together.”

Fellow participant Sarah Moulton said the program provides an important pathway into the industry. “As an emerging Producer, gaining practical experience on feature film development is rare. I am grateful for this incredibly valuable opportunity,” Moulton said.

“This program is helping demystify creative producing and is supporting each of us to build a holistic and sustainable pathway forward through collaboration.”

The inaugural Producing Pathways Program participants are: Jasmin Watkins Sarah Moulton Alexander Karytinos Samantha Hughes Chaase Nigel-Brownlee Ebani Autumn Through initiatives like Producing Pathways, Sunup Workshop aims to help build a stronger pipeline of producing talent in South Australia, contributing to the state’s growing reputation as a dynamic hub for film production and storytelling.
