FILMMAKER BROTHERS, PABLO AND JUAN LARRAIN, LAUNCH PIJAMA; A GROUNDBREAKING NEW STREAMING PLATFORM EXPANDING GLOBAL ACCESS TO UNDISTRIBUTED FILM
The Acclaimed Filmmakers join Award-Winning Executive Creative Director, Cristian Jofre in Launching a Filmmaker-First TVOD Platform for Independent and Undistributed Films
pijama announced the launch of its groundbreaking new streaming platform designed to dramatically expand access to independent and undistributed films worldwide. The TVOD platform enables filmmakers and producers to upload their films directly, select release territories, set pricing and run fully integrated digital marketing campaigns all in one place.
pijama is the first platform of its kind to give creators a direct reach to global audiences without traditional gatekeepers, while offering viewers unprecedented access to films that would otherwise remain unseen.
Founded by acclaimed filmmakers Juan de Dios Larraín and Pablo Larraín, alongside award-winning Executive Creative Director Cristian Jofre, pijama reflects a lifelong commitment to film and a reimagining of how stories reach audiences around the world.
“We are excited to launch a new model of film distribution. Thousands of filmmakers never reach audiences due to traditional distribution barriers. The platforms just can’t take all the films that are made, and this is about democratizing access,” Pablo and Juan Larraín said in a joint statement. “Eighty percent of films never get distribution, and we see a cultural crisis rooted in the end of physical media and the current logic of the market. We ask ourselves how audiences can see most of the films that played festivals like Sundance, Berlin, Cannes, Venice, and Toronto last year when, in most cases, it simply isn’t possible. Even many films by great filmmakers from the past are no longer accessible. It’s crazy. We want to create a simple but effective bridge between the filmmaker and the audience.”
“At a time when access to cinema is increasingly fragmented, pijama addresses the long-standing gap in the film industry by providing filmmakers a direct, global distribution path,” said Cristian Jofre. “Built by filmmakers for filmmakers, pijama exists to open global access to undistributed films, empowering creators and audiences through a platform that prioritizes discovery and equity, and I’m humbled to be part of this transformative journey.”
For a flat fee of $100, filmmakers can upload, encode, store and stream a film for two years. Rental pricing can be set between $3.99 and $9.99, granting viewers a 72-hour viewing window over 30 days. Audiences can rent films worldwide, with 80% of revenue paid directly to producers, sales agents and distributors after transactional costs and applicable taxes.
The platform operates as a transaction OTT platform with a pay-per-view model, specifically focused on films without territorial distribution on major streaming services, prioritizing transparency, affordability and creative control. pijama is where global storytelling meets modern access.
