CINEFESTOZ OPENS SUBMISSIONS WITH FRESH CATEGORIES FOR 2025 Including the return $100,000, Richest Prize for Australian Made Film
CinefestOZ, Australia’s premier destination film festival, is delighted to announce that submissions for the 2025 festival are now open! Set against the stunning backdrop of the South West of Western Australia, the festival will run from 30 August to 7 September 2025.
We invite filmmakers across Australia to submit their work for consideration in both the Official Selection and Short Film Program. Whether you’re an established name or an emerging talent, this is your chance to showcase your film on one of the nation’s most respected stages. New categories for 2025 include screen projects such as XR, mini-series, and TV pilots. Short films are celebrated through CinefestOZ’s Short Film Awards with entries considered for a range of categories.
Submissions are also open for our coveted CinefestOZ Film Prize, Australia’s richest film award for an Australian made film, with a generous $100,000 AUD grand prize, which will be awarded at the festival by leading Australian filmmakers. The Moogai took home the prestigious prize in 2024, joining the ranks of acclaimed films like Shadya, H is for Happiness, and Paper Planes, the first winner in 2014.
CinefestOZ CEO, Cassandra Jordan, shared her excitement for the 2025 festival: “Every year, we are inspired by the boundless creativity, passion, and vision that our filmmakers bring to CinefestOZ. We see so many incredible films from all corners of Australia and are committed to celebrating the unique voices that make Australian cinema so special. We can’t wait to share these films with our audiences in the beautiful South West of WA.”
Submissions for all categories are now open online via Film Freeway with a deadline of 1 June 2025. We encourage filmmakers to submit their work and be a part of this exciting celebration of Australian storytelling.
