South Australian filmmakers behind the cult horror-comedy DROPBEAR are calling on locals to be part of their latest film, PROJECT GREAT WHITE, with extras needed this Friday for a major scene shooting in Largs Bay.

With cameras now rolling, the production is inviting members of the public to step in front of the lens as part of a fast-paced, micro-budget feature filming along Adelaide’s coastline.

  • Extras Call: This Friday at 4.30pm
  • Shoot Date: Friday 27th March
  • Location: Largs Bay Jetty, SA

No acting experience is required, and locals of all backgrounds are encouraged to get involved. Locals interested in being part of the film can register their interest via info@sixfootfourproductions.com.au.

Cameras already rolling in SA

Filming is currently underway on PROJECT GREAT WHITE, the new shark satire from filmmakers John deCaux and Jackson Johns, following the international release of their debut feature DROPBEAR.

The production is being shot over an intensive 10-day schedule, using real coastal locations across Adelaide’s north-west to bring the story to life.

A chance to be part of the action

The extras call offers a rare opportunity for locals to experience a working film set and be part of a South Australian production from the ground up.

“We’re always trying to bring people into the process where we can,” said producer Jackson Johns.

“This is a fun one to be part of big energy, big chaos, and a chance to say you survived a shark movie.”

Cast announced

The film features a mix of national and local talent:

Main Cast

  • Rob Wells
  • Katherine Sortini
  • Eddie Morrison
  • Kieren McNamara

Supporting Cast

  • Steve Lu
  • Ellie Fuller
  • Robert Donnarumma
  • Rory Noke

“This is a really exciting one to be shooting locally,” said writer-director John deCaux.

“We’ve brought together a great mix of returning collaborators and new cast, and having Rob Wells, Katherine Sortini and Eddie Morrison leading the ensemble adds a whole new dynamic. It’s fast, chaotic, and exactly the kind of film we love making.”

What is PROJECT GREAT WHITE?

It’s Predator meets Love Island, if Love Island only had one broke influencer, a cheap U.S. producer, a washed-up movie star, and a beach poisoned by a toxic algae bloom.

When their bargain-bin reality TV shoot collides with a classified, laser-equipped great white enhanced with super-serum erupts from the poisoned water and unleashes chaos, the cast and crew find themselves trapped between a mutant killing machine and a government cleanup team sent to erase every witness.

Built locally, made fast

The film continues the team’s independent, location-first approach to filmmaking, with post-production and visual effects to be completed in Adelaide through Pulsar Post and Australis FX.

DROPBEAR continues momentum

The announcement follows the success of DROPBEAR, which was released internationally through ITN Distribution and locally via Hilldale Entertainment, and is set for home media release in Q2 2026.
