Veteran director and cinematographer Ray Argall has been tapped to receive this year’s Cecil Holmes Award from the Australian Directors’ Guild.
A former president of the Guild (2006 – 2015), Argall’s directorial credits include Return Home (1990), Eight Ball (1993), and the upcoming documentary Midnight Oil: 1984.
The Cecil Holmes Award is presented by the ADG board to honour those who have advocated for the role of the director. Kingston Anderson, CEO of the Australian Directors’ Guild, said, “Ray Argall has been one of the ADG’s longest serving Presidents and has ushered in an era of development and change at the guild. His dedication in serving on the board and standing up for screen directors has been outstanding.”
The Award will presented at the ADG Awards next week on Friday, May 4, which will be hosted by comedian Susie Youssef, with Kat Stewart, Pia Miranda, Michala Banas, Xavier Samuel, Damian Walshe-Howling, Adam Elliot and Evie Macdonald presenting.
